*YOUR SHIPMENT TIMELINE*

## Your shipment timeline

Every CarShippers.ai order moves through six clearly defined stages. Here's exactly what happens - and what to do - at each one.

### Booked

Your order is confirmed in our system and your booking reference is active. A CarShippers.ai logistics specialist is now matching your vehicle to the best carrier available on your lane, factoring in carrier rating, route efficiency, and your requested pickup window.

### Pickup Scheduled

A carrier has accepted your shipment. Your pickup window is confirmed, and the carrier's contact information is now visible on your tracking card.

### Picked Up

Your vehicle is on the truck. The pickup Bill of Lading has been signed by both you (or your representative) and the driver, documenting your vehicle's pre-transport condition. A photo set is on file.

### In Transit

Your vehicle is loaded on the carrier and actively moving toward your destination. The carrier's GPS updates every 4 hours - the tracker shows the last confirmed location, the interstate corridor, and approximate distance from your destination.

### Out for Delivery

The carrier is within approximately 24 hours of your destination. Expect a direct call from your driver to coordinate the final drop window.

### Delivered

Your vehicle has been delivered. The delivery Bill of Lading is signed, confirming receipt and documenting vehicle condition at drop-off.

*TRACKING FAQ*

## Tracking FAQ

Four things every customer asks while watching the map - plus three more worth knowing.

### What does "in transit" mean?

In transit means your vehicle has been picked up, loaded onto the carrier, and is actively moving toward your destination. The carrier's GPS location updates every 4 hours. Your tracking card shows the last confirmed GPS point, the route corridor (e.g., I-40 W), and the approximate distance remaining. Most cross-country routes spend 5-8 days in this stage; regional hauls under 500 miles typically resolve in 1-2 days.

### How often is the location updated?

Location updates every 4 hours during active transit. The tracker shows the last confirmed GPS point and the timestamp of that reading. If you need a more precise location, call your driver directly using the number on your tracking card.

### What if my delivery is delayed?

Delivery windows in auto transport are estimates, not guarantees - this is standard across the industry. Carriers travel 500-600 miles per day and may experience delays due to weather, traffic, DOT weigh stations, or multi-stop pickup schedules. If your estimated window has passed by more than 24 hours, contact your CarShippers.ai specialist directly. If you haven't booked yet, our car shipping costs page breaks down exactly what affects your quote and timeline.

### How do I contact my driver directly?

Your driver's direct phone number appears on your tracking card as soon as your carrier is assigned (Stage 2 - Pickup Scheduled). If the number goes unanswered, call carrier dispatch or contact us at +1 (937) 238-6889 and we'll coordinate a callback.

### Can I track without a booking reference?

Yes. Enter the email address you used when booking and your vehicle details will pull up. If you don't have access to that email, call +1 (937) 238-6889 - a specialist can locate your order by name, phone number, VIN, or pickup ZIP code.

### What is a Bill of Lading and why does it matter?

A Bill of Lading is the legal document that records your vehicle's condition at both pickup and delivery. It is the foundation of any damage claim. If new damage appears at delivery that wasn't noted at pickup, document it on the delivery BOL before the driver leaves and email damage@carshippers.ai within 24 hours.

### What's the difference between a broker and a carrier?

CarShippers.ai is an FMCSA-licensed auto transport broker (MC #162489 (fmcsa-mc-number: FMCSA licensed auto transport broker authority MC #162489)2 (fmcsa-mc-number: FMCSA licensed auto transport broker authority MC #1624892 (fmcsa-mc-number: FMCSA licensed auto transport broker authority MC #1624892))). We coordinate your shipment - quoting, matching, dispatching, and supporting - while a licensed carrier physically transports your vehicle. Your carrier's MC number and FMCSA registration are visible on your tracking card. Visit our full FAQ for answers on payment, insurance, cancellation, and more.

*HOW IT WORKS*

## How it works

During active transit the tracker always shows the last confirmed location and timestamp - so you're never left guessing where your car is.

Pickup confirmed, 24 hours before delivery, and delivered. Opt in during booking or contact support at any time.

Your driver's phone number and carrier dispatch are visible as soon as a carrier is assigned - no middleman needed.

Pickup BOL uploaded within 2 hours of vehicle pickup. Delivery BOL follows within 24 hours of drop-off.

To understand what you're seeing on your tracking card, it helps to know how car shipping works. CarShippers.ai is an FMCSA-licensed auto transport broker (MC #1624892 (fmcsa-mc-number: FMCSA licensed auto transport broker authority MC #1624892) | USDOT #4208679 (fmcsa-dot-number: FMCSA US Department of Transportation number USDOT #4208679)) - your tracking page goes live the moment a carrier is matched to your shipment.

CarShippers.ai has shipped 12,000+ vehicles across the lower 48. Read what customers say about their experience.

Field

What It Shows

*OPEN VS. ENCLOSED*

## Open vs. enclosed

/services/open-transport

The industry standard, used for over 90% of U.S. vehicle shipments and the default for most CarShippers.ai orders. Cost-effective and safe for everyday vehicles.

/services/enclosed-transport

Recommended for high-value vehicles, classic cars, and exotics that need full protection from road debris and weather exposure. Costs 40-60% more but provides a fully weather-sealed trailer.

No - tracking works exactly the same on both. Both carrier types use GPS-enabled trucks and follow the same 6-stage milestone system.

If you're unsure which option your booking used, check your confirmation email or call our team at +1 (937) 238-6889.
