The basics

What Is Auction shipping Car Shipping?

Auto auction car shipping is the service that moves purchased inventory from auction yards to dealer lots. It requires a transport partner that understands auction pickup logistics — gate passes, run numbers, lot codes, yard release windows, and the coordination complexity of moving multiple vehicles simultaneously. CarShippers.ai handles auction pickup from all major US auto auctions: Manheim (wholesale), Copart (salvage), ADESA (wholesale), and IAAI (salvage). Dealer accounts include volume pricing from shipment 1, batch booking through the dealer portal or API, consolidated monthly invoicing, a dedicated account manager, and net-30 billing for approved accounts. Accounts are set up in 2 to 5 business days. There is no minimum volume commitment and no long-term contract — you get dealer rates from your first shipment.

Manheim · Copart · ADESA · IAAI. Volume pricing from shipment 1. CarShippers.ai matches FMCSA-licensed carriers with transparent, expert-verified pricing.

Why CarShippers.ai

Why Choose CarShippers.ai for Auction shipping?

Auction-trained carriers — not generalists pulled off the load board

Every carrier on your shipments has been through our auction-yard qualification. They know Manheim release procedures, Copart's flatbed requirements for salvage, and ADESA's check-out flow. They arrive with proper gate access, correct lot numbers, and the right paperwork. No carrier ever shows up at a Manheim gate asking what a run number is.

Batch booking — up to 50 vehicles in one submission

Submit up to 50 vehicles at once via the dealer portal, CSV upload, or API endpoint. Each unit auto-routes to the best carrier for its origin-destination pair based on load-board availability, on-time score, and corridor specialisation. Submit a Monday Manheim sale before lunch — assignments confirm by end of day.

API and DMS integration — your systems, our dispatch

REST API for booking, status, condition reports, and invoicing. Pre-built integrations for VAuto, CDK, Dealertrack, and Reynolds & Reynolds. No engineering budget? Use the dealer portal — same functionality, no IT time required. Integration onboarding is 3 to 10 business days.

Volume pricing from shipment 1 — no minimums, no contract

Dealer rates from your first shipment. No volume minimum to unlock pricing. No long-term contract. As monthly volume grows your tier moves down automatically — independent → franchise → group. The pricing ladder is published in your rate card on account setup. No bait-and-switch.

How it works

How Auction shipping Car Shipping Works

01

Submit purchases (portal, CSV, or API)

Enter VIN, year, make, model, lot or run number, auction location, and destination lot. Batch up to 50 vehicles per submission, or post single units via API. Typical time: 2 minutes for a 50-vehicle CSV; under 1 second per vehicle via API.

02

We coordinate gate and assign carriers

Our system validates each vehicle against Manheim, Copart, ADESA, and IAAI yard operations. AI assigns each unit to the carrier with best route fit, on-time score, and yard familiarity. Ops coordinates gate access and release timing with the auction directly. Carrier confirmation reaches you within 2 business hours.

03

Pickup, transit, delivery with portal-level visibility

Real-time tracking per vehicle in your dealer portal — status, location, ETA. Condition photos at pickup and delivery, stored per-VIN. Automated alerts to your ops email or Slack/Teams. Monthly performance report and consolidated invoice at month-end, payable net-30 for approved accounts.

Most shipments take between 3–10 days depending on route distance, weather, traffic, and scheduling availability.

Transparent pricing

Dealer pricing is structured, not quoted

Dealer accounts receive a published rate card on setup. Rates are based on monthly volume tier, auction-origin corridor, and vehicle class. There is no minimum commitment and no contract — your tier is assessed monthly and adjusts automatically.

What affects your exact price
  • Monthly volume tier (primary driver — see table above)
  • Auction yard efficiency (Manheim Dallas is faster than Manheim Pittsburgh)
  • Vehicle class — sedan baseline; SUV/truck +$25–$60; non-running flatbed +$80–$150; luxury enclosed +40–60%
  • Route density — metro-to-metro cheapest; metro-to-rural +$50–$150
  • Urgency — standard pickup 1–3 days from release; same-day or next-day adds 15–30%
  • Yard release timing — booked before auction close gets best pricing; post-sale rush costs more

Prices are typically highest during peak seasonal demand on popular corridors.

Frequently Asked Questions About Auction shipping

CarShippers.ai coordinates directly with auction yard operations at Manheim, Copart, ADESA, and IAAI. You submit the vehicle via the dealer portal or API with the auction location, run number or lot code, and destination. Our ops team manages gate coordination with the yard and assigns a carrier trained on that specific auction's procedures. You do not need to arrange pickup separately, negotiate with the yard, or hold the carrier's hand through the release process. Confirmation of carrier assignment reaches you within 2 business hours of submission.

No. Dealer accounts have no minimum volume commitment and no long-term contract requirement. Volume pricing applies from your first shipment based on your expected monthly tier. Your tier is reviewed monthly and adjusts automatically as your actual volume changes — no renegotiation required. If you stop shipping with us, you stop. No termination clauses, no early-exit fees.

Batch booking lets you submit up to 50 vehicles in a single transaction via the dealer portal, CSV upload, or API endpoint. Each vehicle is auto-routed to the optimal carrier based on origin-destination pair, carrier availability, on-time score, and corridor specialisation. Typical usage: a dealer coming out of a Monday Manheim sale submits the entire sale's wins as one batch; assignments confirm by end of day. For submissions over 50 vehicles, split into multiple batches or use the API, which has no batch size limit.

We have pre-built integrations with VAuto, CDK, Dealertrack, and Reynolds & Reynolds. Any DMS with a REST API can integrate with our endpoint. Integration onboarding typically takes 3 to 10 business days and is handled by our implementation team — your internal IT resource does not need to manage it end-to-end. Dealer groups with 5+ rooftops typically use API integration; independents typically use the portal. Both have identical functionality.

Yes. Copart salvage pickups require flatbed or tilt-bed carriers because most salvage units are non-running. Our system flags vehicle class at submission; Copart pickups automatically route to carriers with the correct equipment. Gate coordination with Copart yards is handled the same way as Manheim and ADESA — you provide the lot number, we manage release. Transit times for Copart are typically 1 to 2 days longer than wholesale auctions because the flatbed pool is smaller.

Approved dealer accounts receive net-30 billing by default. Application for net-30 is part of onboarding and takes 1 to 3 business days — we pull a standard business credit report and check references. Before net-30 is approved, new accounts pay by ACH or wire on a per-shipment basis. Credit card is available but adds a 2.9% processing fee; most dealers prefer ACH. Consolidated monthly invoicing with per-VIN line items is standard. Invoices break out transport fee, fuel surcharges, and any yard storage fees separately.

Standard vendor pack: W-9, certificate of insurance (COI) with your dealership as additional insured (issued within 48 hours), banking information for ACH setup, FMCSA broker license and $75,000 BMC-84 bond verification, references from three comparable dealer accounts, our standard vendor agreement, and SLA terms document. Custom vendor paperwork (your standard vendor form, your procurement system's intake) is handled by our account setup team during onboarding. No vendor-onboarding rodeo.

Real-time: status and ETA per VIN visible in the dealer portal 24/7. Monthly: consolidated performance report covering on-time pickup rate, on-time delivery rate, average transit time by route, total spend by rooftop and vehicle class, and claims rate. Dealer groups get rooftop-level reporting. Custom reports (weekly, by auction source, by carrier) are available on request via email or portal export. API consumers can pull any data point programmatically.
